Felix’s Bbq – San Marcos

I was craving some fried catfish and found out Felix closed his Oceanside location.  I decided to visit his San Marcos location.  I asked a staffer about Felix and was told Felix sold the bbq to Caleb.

They don’t serve breakfast yet but I was told it would be available in the future.  I ordered a large catfish and shrimp combo.  It was 2 catfish filets plus 12 shrimp.  I had a ton of shrimp leftover.

Catfish was battered in a crunchy corn meal batter.  Catfish was tender and juicy.  I loved the mix of flavors from the catfish and the fried batter.

Shrimp was fried in the crunchy corn meal batter.  Shrimp were plump and tender.  I loved the mix of flavors from the shrimp and batter.

Cornbread muffins were fresh and full of corn flavor.

Everything I tried tasted great.  Just like when Felix was running things at his Oceanside location.  Staff was friendly and provided very good service.  Caleb has done well carrying on the traditions Felix started.
